The Travis Family!

20 Oct

You may recognize these darling little girls from a previous photo session/blog post and I am so happy to that I am able share the newest images from our most recent session! In a way, I have watched these two curly haired cuties grow up in front of my camera. Rachel & Caitlin have transformed into young ladies that are even more dynamic and full of energy than when I first met them almost two years ago! I still have a giant grin on my face each time I am introduced to these two and their glorious green/blue eyes seems like they are made to be in front of a camera.

I met up with the Travis Family at Lake Anne in Reston on a particularly beautiful Fall afternoon. We played on all the abstract sculptures, said hello to “Bob” aka Robert E. Simon, and ran up and down paths, bridges, and turned the plaze into our makeshift playground. Mom, Dad, and Grandma were a part of the action and there were lots of hugs, kisses, and when all was said and done….a gum reward! I had such a fun day and hope to see these two beauties grow into young women!

Thank you so much Travis Family! In my opinion, you are one big, cute overload!

The Legler Family!

5 Aug

Wow! I can’t believe it has been so long since my last post! Like most (if not all) of you, my to-do list has a funny way of snow balling into to-do pages! But I digress because I am so excited to FINALLY share my session with the Legler Family!

I met up with this adorable family of five on a hot, buggy, and eventually rainy day so we had to cut the session a bit short (who can handle heat and mosquitos? Not ME!) Despite Mother Nature’s best attempt to damper our efforts, we still managed to have a great time! The boys pulled on their rainboots, grabbed their light sabers, and we went exploring in the backyard!

I had such a fun time with the Legler’s and am so excited to meet up with them in the next few weeks to finish what we started! For now, I am thrilled to share images and can’t thank you all enough for following along with my little blog!

Thank you so much Legler Family! Can’t wait to see you soon! xo

Kristyn: A Maternity Session

30 Jun

There is something so special about new mommy and daddy’s to be. They seem to always be wearing a glow and  a smile in anticipation as they wait to welcome a new addition into this great, big, scary, exciting, amazing world!  I had so much fun with the Cole’s and was so excited to do a maternity session before baby  arrives!

The happy couple are welcoming Tyson Bishop into the world and are taking the leap into parenting with arms wide open. I loved how these newlyweds (they were married a little over a year ago) shared so many laughs and smiles amid the heat and gnats and were up for anything…even when I rearranged half their living room, scratch that, entire living room to make room for my camera and myself.

Congratulations Cole Family!! Can’t wait to meet Mr. Tyson! xo

UPDATE: I spoke with Kirstyn earlier in the week and she was emailing me FROM the hospital and was in labor! Yay!!

Happy First Birthday Trip!

17 Jun

I really can’t believe how big this sweet boy has grown! I was lucky enough to photograph the baby shower, Trip’s first few months of life, and just a few weeks ago….saw him turn ONE!

The Markmann family is amazing. Amanda is a designer and it comes through in everything she touches and  I adore her style. She can make a nursery look cool enough to be my own bedroom and Trip’s first birthday was no exception. Colorful mustaches were placed in beautiful cupcakes, party favors in bright boxes featured a little note featuring a funny little mustache, there were even fake mustaches for the guests to sport around the party. ADORABLE!

What I loved most about Trip’s birthday was that it celebrated family and giving back to help others. Instead of wrapped boxes in all shapes and sizes, a simple white and blue box sat proudly in the front hallway. In lieu of presents, Amanda had asked all of her guests to bring/donate their old cellphones to Hope Phones. Hope Phones is a not profit organization that provides phones to medical clinics in developing countries which gives families access to emergency medical care, health information, transport services, and clinic resources.

See! I told you the Markmann’s were super cool!!

Thank you so much Bill, Amanda, and of course…happy birthday Trip! I had such a fun day and think the world of you guys!

happy party goers!

The Magic Wardrobe

11 May

Turning left off of Snickersville Lane, I had to pinch myself. I was making my way up to a gorgeous farm in Aldie, Va on what could be only described as a picture perfect day. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by the smiling and stunning Bridget, owner of the Magic Wardrobe, and her three gorgeous children. I also met the ever-lovely Patti who I owe a big thank you! Not only for setting up the entire session but also for her patience, otherwise, there is a chance I might still be driving down the windy roads of the Virginia countryside.

I was thrilled when I was contacted by The Magic Wardrobe to photograph their Spring/Summer collection. It doesn’t get any more exquisite than the garments found behind the doors of this very special children’s boutique.  Founded in 1989 in Middleburg, VA., The Magic Wardrobe offers an inspiring array of beautiful garments from the likes of Marc Jacobs and Jean Bourget. But what’s most special about The Magic Wardrobe is the collection designed by Bridget herself.  Both innovative and joyful, the MW Collection is truly an example of what children’s clothing should be. Believe me, I gasped at one beautiful piece which I know that, if made in my size, I would be thrilled to have hanging in my own closet.

There truly is a celebration of children and life inside The Magic Wardrobe and I encourage all of you to stop by and say hello when you are passing through Middleburg or strolling through Georgetown. I am sure you will be greeted with smiles as beautiful as the clothes themselves.

The new and improved web site is almost set for launch, but in the meantime, you can find out more about The Magic Wardrobe by visiting, http://themagicwardrobe.com/

Thank you so much Patty & Bridget! I had such an amazing time with everyone!

Miss Taylor: A Newborn Session

18 Apr

Beautiful babies and funny dogs may quite possibly be two of my favorite things in the whole wide world! Luckily, Rachel and Bill have one of each. About a week ago, I was fortunate enough to spend a lovely Sunday afternoon with Rachel and Bill and their two babies. Okay, so they only actually have one beautiful baby but I couldn’t not count Bruce! Bruce is their American bulld dog/boxer mix who Bill and Rachel rescued a few years ago and has a personality all his own. I admit, I fell in love with both baby and bulldog  in the few hours I spent with the funny, adorable, and exceptional Peterson family.

You know how the old saying goes….Sugar and spice and everything nice? Well that is exactly what Taylor is made of! I couldn’t have asked for a more cooperative little lady. She hardly made a peep when we would shift her from here to there and she spent most of the afternoon sleeping in her Momma’s arms. She managed to open her beautiful, bright eyes a few times and I think I took a little gasp each time she did, she is just so stunning for six weeks old.

Bill and Rachel are two of the funniest people I have ever met and they are such amazing parents. They love Taylor so very much but always manage to keep the mood light with smiles, jokes, and laughs! Something,  I assume,  is hard to do as brand new/sleep-deprived parents.

Thank you so much Peterson Family! You are all truly beautiful from the inside out!

Addison & Mason: A Newborn Session (times two!)

3 Feb

Most of you, my lovely readers, know that I am blessed to be a twin! Throughout our lives people would always ask……what’s it like? Well, like with most everything in life, there were lots of laughs, plenty of tears, wicked arguments, and giant hugs. The same holds true today and I consider my twin my absolute, best friend in the world.  So today when people ask me what it is like being a twin? I respond with a “I couldn’t imagine life any other way!”

I was lucky enough to do an anniversary session with Janine and Chris last year and gushed over their awesomeness. You can imagine my thrill when Janine told me she was having twins and asked if I could photograph them as newborns! Let me tell you that as parents Chris and Janine exude patience and kindness and the love they have for each other and their new little family is awe inspiring! Having two little bundles of joy is a lot of work but Mason and Addison are beautiful!  They both have so much personality despite being so new to this world!  I can tell already that they will be best friends for life 🙂

Thank you so much Chris, Janine, Addison, and Mason! xoxo

Miss Addison!

Mason is all smiles!
