Glenann & Eric: September 10, 2011

10 Oct

After a very soggy week, we were all a bit nervous that Mother Nature would once again put a damper on our weekend but thankfully, September 10, 2011 was an absolutely beautiful day and I was thrilled to photograph Glenann and Eric’s charming, rustic wedding at Hidden Brook Winery.

Glenann and Eric have known each other since highschool…they actually met when they both were on the Robotics Team! Alas, their relationship did not begin with the press of a button. It wasn’t until after college that Glenann and Eric rekindled their friendship and  built a foundation which transformed into a beautiful love for one another.

I met up with Glenann and her Bridesmaids as they finished getting ready which gave us plenty of time to climb old trolleys and pose in beautiful fields. Unfortunately, we had a bit too much fun jumping and Glennann muddied the train of her dress which called for an emergency bridesmaid duty!  She totally kept her cool and laughed and smiled as her friends worked on the solution. She is so easy going which is what makes her even more amazing!

What I loved most about Glenann and Eric’s wedding were the personal touches they brought into their special day. She being a graphic designer and he a photographer, their wedding day was filled with  details that  truly reflected Glenann & Eric’s personalities. Of course, the evening was also filled with close friends and family and a boatload of smiles, laughs, and of course…. dancing!

Thank you so much GA & Eric, I had so much fun and wish you a lifetime of happiness! xo.

Eat, Drink, and Be Married!

Lauren & Steve: August 13, 2011

12 Sep

You may remember Lauren and Steve from their adorable love story in which their hearts connected over a bottle of wine at Old Ebbit Grill in Washington DC. In August, I was and honored to document their big day in Tarrytown, NY. I cannot say enough glowing remarks about these two collegiate coaches that found themselves in the arms of each other.

Tarrytown is such a beautiful, little town and is resident to, the aptly named, Tarrytown House where Lauren & Steve’s wedding celebration was held.  Throughout the day the sun peeked out and giggled from above as many smiles, hugs, and laughs were shared down below.

“Lauren and Steve are perfect for each other!” was the sentiment shared by many in attendance of their special day…and it’s true.

Lauren is beautiful, hilarious, and whip smart (so are her sisters!) Steve is fun-loving, adorable, and incredibly kind.  Their love for each other builds upon their strengths and they support each other no matter the idiosyncrasy.

From bright green shoes (Lauren’s favorite color), to guest cards adorned by gold baseballs, and even a hot dog and soft pretzel stand Lauren and Steve really shined through all of the details. And the FUN everyone had! My gosh! The whole party was dancing even before the salads were served! I ended up tapping my toes and was probably laughing harder than I should when the Chicken Dance came on and there didn’t seem to be a single person at their tables!

Lauren & Steve thank everyone for making their day so special but I especially want to thank THEM for being so wonderful. May your happiness grow as you grow old together! X.O.

PS: A very SUPER shout out loud, from the top of the rooftops THANK YOU to Danny for  being the most amazing, supportive. outstanding assistant/2nd photographer for the weekend!

Caitlin & Clare: June 11, 2011

24 Jun

Have you ever meet someone for the first time and immediately (and secretly) wished to yourself that they were your best friend? That is exactly how I felt upon meeting both Caitlin and Claire. Although, I spoke with Caitlin via phone and some friendly emails, meeting these women was a whole other experience. They are, in a word, awesome. Not just because they are down-to-earth, hilariously always up for a high five, or super laid back but because they are stunning. Stunning in their beauty, their love for each other, and they way they make their friends and love ones feel by just being around.

I was thrilled to travel up to Brooklyn, NY to document their wedding day and felt so honored to be part of such a special occasion. Family and friends filled MyMoon, a beautiful venue located in Williamsburg that has enough exposed brick and strategically placed giant windows to make anyone quickly understand why photographers go batty over Brooklyn architecture and spaces. Words flowed from the ceremony to the reception that were filled with love, friendship, commitment, and laugher. Love spread from one guest to the next and with hugs, and kisses, and those frequent high fives, the intimate affair was packed to gills with sweet emotion.

Caitlin & Clare – Thank you so very much for letting me celebrate with you and all of your awesome friends! You guys are truly awesome.

Special HUGE thanks goes out to Mina A. for not only being a generous host but an outstanding second photographer and the best pal a girl could ask for!! xo.

Happy First Birthday Trip!

17 Jun

I really can’t believe how big this sweet boy has grown! I was lucky enough to photograph the baby shower, Trip’s first few months of life, and just a few weeks ago….saw him turn ONE!

The Markmann family is amazing. Amanda is a designer and it comes through in everything she touches and  I adore her style. She can make a nursery look cool enough to be my own bedroom and Trip’s first birthday was no exception. Colorful mustaches were placed in beautiful cupcakes, party favors in bright boxes featured a little note featuring a funny little mustache, there were even fake mustaches for the guests to sport around the party. ADORABLE!

What I loved most about Trip’s birthday was that it celebrated family and giving back to help others. Instead of wrapped boxes in all shapes and sizes, a simple white and blue box sat proudly in the front hallway. In lieu of presents, Amanda had asked all of her guests to bring/donate their old cellphones to Hope Phones. Hope Phones is a not profit organization that provides phones to medical clinics in developing countries which gives families access to emergency medical care, health information, transport services, and clinic resources.

See! I told you the Markmann’s were super cool!!

Thank you so much Bill, Amanda, and of course…happy birthday Trip! I had such a fun day and think the world of you guys!

happy party goers!

Amy & Tim ~ May 14, 2011

10 Jun

I have been meaning to post this blog for awhile and am so excited to share images from Amy & Tim’s Wedding at Tarara Winery!

When Amy & Tim fell in love with wine as they were falling in love with each other. Some of their first dates would be taking scenic drives through Virginia and popping in for a refreshment at small wineries along the way. The first time they visited Tarara, it felt right. Perhaps it was the smiley staff or the great tasting wine but if I had to guess, it was probably the long conversations Amy and Tim would get  lost in together, or the laughs they shared from old stories that would turn into new memories of time spent together.

Amy & Tim are enamored with each other. I felt so honored to photograph their wedding because I was the witness for the day. I can’t tell you what it feels like to be watching/documenting  a wedding when it is stripped down to the incredible beauty of two people committing to each other for a lifetime. Magical, is the first word that comes to mind! I found myself wiping away my own tears as I clicked the shutter and looked on as Tim took his turn and vowed his love to Amy. Quietly listening, she beamed proudly with the kind of joy and happiness that can take your breath away.

Amy & Tim – Thank you so very much allowing me to be a part of such an amazing day! I know you both found your missing piece and I wish you happiness for the rest of your days!

Tori & Josh: March 4, 2011

18 Mar

The first thing that Tori told me was that she too had a love affair with cheese! From that moment on, I knew that working with her and Josh was going to be a blast!

I had so much fun getting to know Tori and Josh! They are just the nicest people and it was neat to see how perfectly they complemented each other.  While their wedding was a more low-key and intimate affair, it was by no means ordinary!  We started off with a “first look” before we headed to the church and the expression on Tori’s face was just priceless!

The ceremony took place at t St. John the Baptist in DC which is stunning from the inside out. (Sidenote: If you have never been inside a Russian Orthodox church, I encourage you to go and just take in all the ornate beauty! It is breath-taking!)

After the ceremony, it was off to Lia’s, located in Chevy Chase, to eat, drink, and be merry!  Each part of the day’s festivities not only celebrated Tory and Josh but also celebrated all of the wonderful people in their lives. There was so much love in the room and I felt really lucky to be a part of it all.

Thank you so much Tori & Josh! May your life be sweet together! xo
